SHOW FAQs

We encourage all students to stay involved in the spring if they are not cast in the show.  There are additional classes your student can consider joining to continue their training.  Or, for interested students 12 or above, we offer a hands on Technical Theater Workshop where students will learn from industry professionals and then have the opportunity to join the stage crew behind-the-scenes!

There is an audition fee and a production fee that are paid at separate times.  The audition process is a valuable learning and growth opportunity! All students will have the chance to sing individually and go through a movement audition with the show's Creative Team. Any student who plans to audition will purchase a non-refundable audition ticket, which will be credited toward the show's tuition/production fee if the student is cast in the show. It may also be credited towards any spring class tuition, including Technical Crew.

An additional Production Fee to participate will be required if your student is cast. This fee helps to cover production costs (theater rental, lighting, sets, costumes, etc). Additional ancillary costs may include basic stage makeup (if you don’t have a kit already), show shoes, undergarments for the performances, tickets, and commuting/parking costs for NJ families (many families carpool!).  2019 pricing will be available early in the year.

General show commitments are good to review before planning to audition!

Rehearsals are typically 1 weekday and Saturdays for 8-10 weeks in the spring.  Lead and ensemble roles have different levels of time commitment throughout the process.  Performance week includes technical rehearsals and shows.

Truthbase Theatricals shows are unique in that they involve both students and parents working together to support one another and the production. If your student(s) is cast, at least one parent or adult representative (per family) will be required to attend two parent meetings and to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours on a production support committee (i.e. costumes, marketing, concessions, etc.). There are many different kinds of committees to join that utilize various talents and abiliites.  Parents can give committee preferences based on interests and schedule and TbT will seek to accommodate those preferences. This aspect of a production is typically a highlight for families!
